Removed
oil tank from beneath addition foundation. Oil migration, spread by
shallow groundwater, was mapped by others and was confirmed to lie along
footing of original structure, requiring undermining entire addition.
Anco installed large I beams and, utilizing house jacks, supported
addition on temporary footings and columns that extended beyond the
building footprint. Groundwater monitoring confirmed non-actionable
contamination levels. Anco installed new footings and foundation, and
restored the site to its original condition.

A badly
leaking oil tank located beneath a large deck impacted shallow
groundwater and flowed along he foundation, beneath the house and under
the driveway. The deck was removed and the worst contamination was dug
out with dewatering and hydraulic control over underlying groundwater. The
house was sectionally underpinned, then dug out and quickly concrete
filled in wide sections. Oil metabolizing microbes were utilized to
finish off trace amount of residual petroleum. Floor slab, driveway and
foundation drain replacement all included in the site restoration phase.
Anco also rebuilt the 12'x16' second floor deck with full stairway,
utilizing Anco carpenters.

Badly
leaking sub-slab oil lines discharged hundreds of gallons of #2 oil
beneath the basement floor. Oil was found to lie beneath the entire
house. An access ramp was cut to enable heavy equipment access. A
conveyor was utilized to lift contaminated soil and load trucks
directly. Sectional underpinning of the foundation ensured structural
integrity. Alternating 4' wide foundation sections were dug out,
sampled, and re-poured with concrete. New footings, foundation, floor
slab and heating system completed the site restoration, all by Anco
crews.

Designed and implemented labor intensive soil remediation via hand dug
product recovery trenches, biological treatment and Enhanced Fluid
Recovery. Completed remedial efforts that required reporting
requirements in a timely manner to secure property closing schedule.

Oil
contamination from leaking UST commingled with oil from neighbor's
leaking UST. A pneumatically controlled free product skimming system was
installed to remove the 9" floating free product layer. This was
followed by use of a peatwick absorbent system. Weekly, the biweekly,
then monthly peatwick element change-outs satisfied NJDEP corrective
measure implementation requirements yet limited treatment to small area
without influencing/disturbing nearby plumes. While alternative remedial
approaches (i.e., EFR or pump & treat) would more quickly remediate the
site, project duration was less a factor than exceeding policy limits,
therefore this approach was deemed the most viable for the site.

plant in an urban setting. Designed and installed free product recovery
trenches to intercept and collect oil, then a vacuum pump bagged
extraction system installed inside large diameter recovery wells,
located at juncture of recovery trenches. Site restoration included
sidewalk, curbing and roadway replacement.

Coordinated the removal of 4 regulated tanks and 5 residential tanks, as
well as the installation of four 275-gallon above ground storage tanks
and one 1,000-gallon dual compartment above ground storage tank, plus
dispensing equipment. Arranged for the removal of contaminated soil from
around the regulated tanks. Contamination migrated beneath a
100-year-old barn. Met on site with NJDEP Supervisors and devised a
sample plan involving diagonal soil borings beneath the barn to
delineate the vertical and horizontal extent of contamination beneath
the barn without damaging the barn. Obtained No Further Action findings
without restrictions for all areas of concern.

officials, and the Union County Road Department, as contamination
migrated into street. Assisted in the preparation of documents for state
funding and grants from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority to
lessen the owner's payment obligations.

investigation of horizontal and vertical extent of free product revealed

sub-basement through foundation cracks. Anco designed a system to
reverse hydraulic pressure on structure then installed a free product
recovery system. NJDEP compliance documentation led to a No Further
Action determination 24 months later.

contaminated soil. Site access was an issue. Worked closely with State
Farm Insurance, other environmental consultants, and environmental
attorneys to ensure that site activities complied with NJDEP
regulations, yet remained cost effective.

Coordinated the removal of one leaking 1,000-gallon underground storage
tank which was within 2' of neighboring property. Worked closely with
Selective Insurance Company's environmental consultant to determine if
post-excavation soil sample results would demonstrate off site
contamination. When these samples revealed that contamination did not
spread onto the neighbor's property, an investigation was performed in
which is was discovered that the part of the tank and contaminated soil
were in a municipal right of way. Insurance coverage was then issued.

and installed two precast 20,000-gallon tank vaults, with doors, stairs,
piping and monitor system instrumentation. Double walled Conley piping
system plus power and sensing electrical conduit was installed inside
200 feet of 3' x 4' box culverts that crossed under roadways and
railroad crossings. Finished work included lighting, ventilation,
grates, vapor and liquid level sensing instrumentation, ballards and
guardrails.
