| Q: Why should a
tank be inspected and certified? Above-ground storage tanks can contain large amounts of dangerous materials. Accidental release of these materials can have major negative consequences, including endangering personnel, affecting the environment, and interrupting business. Inspection of a tank floor (or bottom) is a situation that requires special attention. The sides and roof of a tank can be inspected conveniently using conventional methods, but the floors are much less accessible. Furthermore, evidence of a leak in the floor remains largely hidden from view until the extent of the leak is large. |
